macro monday 30.7.12

Earlier this summer the mister and I decided to create a small 'meadow'
in an area of the back yard where it is difficult to cut grass
or to grow any other kind of garden

We took seeds that had been given to us by many friends,
from their gardens,
in sympathy cards for my father,
and given out at a memorial service
and planted them in a loosely organized way

Although I recognize many of the flowers,
these are two that I thought folks at Macro Monday just might be able to identify...

Please take a moment to check out some of the awesome shots from other contributors at

and have an awesome Monday!

P.S. Also posting to Flowers for Leontien

  1. Awesome shots ~ lovely idea to plant flowers in that area ~nice tribute ~ thanks, namaste, (A Creative Harbor)

  2. Cute little happy macro flower! I have no idea what they are but I like them!

  3. What beautiful flowers. And you captured them nicely.

  4. Lovely colors you have and a great tribute. I don't know what the pink one is, but the yellow reminds me of brown-eyed susans.

  5. Wonderful flowers. I don't know what the first flower is although it does remind me somewhat of a Day Lily. I'm thinking the other flower is a member of the Blanket Flower family.
Your pictures of them are lovely.

  6. What beautiful photos, and what a fantastic idea to create a meadow filled with seeds from friends and family. That is wonderful...
