This song was originally written and performed by Neil Diamond and hit the charts in 1968.
In the same year it was covered by a UK and a Dutch band....
and by many others to date including the well known UB40 in 1983
UB40 added an extra 'toast' verse.
Neil Diamond later recorded it again with the added verse.
The two versions are strikingly different
with UB40's being far more upbeat than the original ballad by Diamond.
