I had quite a different song and snapshot in mind today
but the Mister was playing the guitar behind me
while I was searching for my snapshot.
I couldn't get one of the songs he was playing out of my head!!
(We call that an earworm!)
Of course several snapshots appeared that were good for THAT song.
So I gave in to the synchronicity of it all
and chose to use the song for my contribution to
LeAnne's Snapshot & a Song meme

The song was written and recorded in 1991
by Canadian musician, Tom Cochrane.
The younger among you may be more familiar with the cover version
recorded by Rascal Flatts in 2006.
Besides his concerts and music career, Tom Cochrane
received the highest honour for a Canadian Citizen
when he was invested as an Officer of the Order of Canada in April 2008.
The citation read:
I chose this photo because it depicts the errors and curves
we may encounter on the 'highway of life'
and the direction signs and blue skies
that will get us through to where we need to be..

Life is a Highway
Life's like a road that you travel on
When there's one day here and the next day gone
Sometimes you bend and sometimes you stand
Sometimes you turn your head to the wind
There's a world outside ev'ry darkened door
Where blues won't haunt you anymore
Where brave are free and lovers soar
Come ride with me to the distant shore
We won't hesitate
Break down the garden's gate
There's not much time left today
Life is a highway
I wanna ride it all night long
If you're going my way
I wanna drive it all night long
Through all these cities and all these towns
It's in my blood and it's all around
I love you now like I loved you then
This is the road and these are the hands
From Mozambique to those Memphis nights
The Khyber Pass to Vancouver's lights
Knock me down get back up again
You're in my blood
I'm not a lonely man
There's no load I can't hold
Road so rough this I know
I'll be there when the light comes on
Just tell 'em we're survivors
Gimme gimme gimme gimme yeah
If you're going my way
I wanna drive it all night long
There was a distance between you and I
A misunderstanding once
But now we look in the eye
There ain't no load that I can't hold
Road so rough this I know
I'll be there when the light comes in
Just tell 'em we're survivors
Life is a highway
I wanna ride it all night long
If you're going my way
I wanna drive it all night long

*Interesting side note*
While doing my research for this post I discovered that I grew up with
one of the members of the band (Red Rider) that Tom played with in the late 70s.
I spent many a Saturday night during the late 60s in my girlfriend's basement family room
listening to her big brother's band play...
little did I know that he would grow up to play with Tom Cochrane!!
Have a wonderful week everyone!
