I am a little late this week as I had company and
Not sure where this post will lead…
My parents bought 100 acres of forest in rural Ontario
back in the summer of 1969.
They eventually built a home and moved there
when my Dad retired, at the age of 53, in November 1982
This was the view from their beach
of the bridge across the Burnt River that leads up to their driveway.
This lovely tree was smaller and relatively straight when they bought the land.
My mother loved that tree…
There are many older photos of it that she took over the years, which I need to scan,
but this is the oldest one I have on my drive.

As you may have noticed, the tree is gradually leaning
more and more towards the river
The photo below was taken his summer,
while I was up clearing out my parent's home and getting it ready to sell.
Earlier this year, on what would have been their 64th anniversary
and in accordance with their final wishes,
the entire family (all 16 of us!) stood on that bridge
and scattered their combined ashes over the river and the property...

Through a very fortunate set of circumstances,
my son, made it possible to keep the home in the family...
He bought it to be used as a cottage for everyone!
This photo was taken when we all gathered for our Canadian Thanksgiving
as we have often done over the years…
Mom and Dad were there is spirit!

This past week, my son sent this photo below from his phone…
Taken on the morning of the day the deal closed on the home sale...

A smaller new tree was behind it…
and a new era begins…
More company for next week but will try to get a few posts up if possible!
Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!
