Their “Greatest Hits 1971 – 1975” is the biggest selling album of all time.
After a 14 year break up they released the album
“Hell
Freezes Over” in 1994.
Legend has it that the album name was the result of an interview
when the band first broke up, in which, when asked if they would ever consider getting together again one of them responsed with
‘when hell freezes over!’

They
were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1998 and they are still
touring and will be in Vegas in November 2012.
I
loved and still love that comeback album!
And
there are several songs I could choose from as favourites
However, as you can see from my snapshots and the highlighted lyrics, there is a reason
why I chose this particular one:
the mister 'standin' on the corner in Winslow Arizona ...
note reflection of girl in flatbed Ford slowin' down to take a look at him...
and a photo of travel weary me with a bronze statue of Don Henley
taken by the mister...
taken by the mister...
"Take It Easy"
(written by Jackson Brown
& Glenn Frey)
Well, I'm running down the
road
tryin' to loosen my load
I've got seven women on
my mind,
Four that wanna own me,
Two that wanna stone me,
One says she's a friend of
mine
Take it easy, take it easy
Don't let the sound of your
own wheels
drive you crazy
Lighten up while you still
can
don't even try to understand
Just find a place to make
your stand
and take it easy
Well, I'm a standing on a corner
in Winslow, Arizona
and such a fine sight to see
It's a girl, my Lord, in a flatbed
Ford slowin' down to take a look at me
Come on, baby, don't say
maybe
I gotta know if your sweet
love is
gonna save me
We may lose and we may win but
we will never be here again
so open up, I'm climbin' in,
so take it easy
Well I'm running down the
road trying to loosen
my load, got a world of
trouble on my mind
lookin' for a lover who won't
blow my
cover, she's so hard to find
Take it easy, take it easy
don't let the sound of your
own
wheels make you crazy
come on baby, don't say maybe
I gotta know if your sweet
love is
gonna save me, oh oh oh
Oh we got it easy
We oughta take it easy

Very cool!! I didn't even know this corner existed ;)
ReplyDeleteYes...there are stores on all four corners selling Eagles memorabilia and Eagles music playing from outdoor speakers! I think that song revitalized a town on what was once Route 66...
ReplyDeleteWow, the Eagles were such a part of my coming of age. :) Love that song, too. Just so fun to sing along :) Thanks for sharing this with Snapshot & a Song!
ReplyDeleteOh I LOVE the Eagles. Their music just said summertime to me. I spent a lot of my teenage years listening to them. Thanks for this post.
